They're not listening

My mother is 84-years-old and lives in a seniors' complex. She is a swing voter and not a dyed-in-the-wool political party supporter.

Recently she received a call from Judy Junor's office asking if Judy could count on her support in the upcoming provincial election. My mother responded with "I haven't decided yet. I'm waiting to hear what all the candidates have to say before I make up my mind."

Okay said the caller, but could Judy count on her to door-knock her building soliciting support from her neighbours for Judy?

What didn't the caller hear?

  1. The NDP will stoop to the lowest levels possible, I can only imagine how many seniors are at the home spreading lies of health care being privatized if the NDP doesn't get into power again.

Good riddance to the provincial NDP.

  2. yes, calling past supporters and asking for their support more than once is just the lowest of the low. Likely the caller was a volunteer with a phone script in front of them trying their best to follow through on the instructions provided.

Campaign tactics occur on all sides that are questionable, I'll spare you the list of grievances I've experienced from the Liberals and SP/Cons if you'll spare me the faux-outrage at the NDP....

  3. Only the NDP would try to dupe a senior, most other political parties are above preying on vulnerable voters.

The NDP have made a habit of preying on those with weak minds.

  4. Politicians at your door or on the phone are like snake oil sales men. I wouldn't put it passed any of the parties to do what ever it takes to get out the vote. I get the same types of calls from businesses trying to get you to buy something. I treat them all the same. Place them on hold and come back to the phone in about 5 min. If they are still there (most aren't) I again place then on hold. That usually gets you off their phone lost.

  5. How was the NDP attempting to dupe a senior?

  6. I heard the NDP are phoning seniors and telling them they will have to move from their facility or pay large amounts of money to private corporations if Sask Party is elected as they will be closed or privatized.

I guess some dirty tricks never change in Sask.

    Are you?

Some lowly volunteer phoned the Mistress' mother and asked if they could count on her support. How is that "duping"?

You mean like the SP person on my doorstep who looked around furtively and then in a whisper (while holding her hand next to her mouth like she was passing on a secret) assured me that Lingenfelter regularly visits Cuba to consult with Fidel and his brother, and if the NDP are elected there will be a communist takeover of western Canada.

She didn't appear to have a tinfoil hat on, but she sure sounded like she did, and one that was a couple sizes too small for her.
